Co-op AmericaがFordとGMに申し入れるとのこと。

“Plug-in hybrids will save consumers money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve national security by moving us away from oil,” said Sherry Boschert, author of Plug-in Hybrids: The Cars That Will Recharge America (New Society Publishers). “The technology is ready today. We just need the political will to get these cars on the road. I encourage all concerned consumers to take Co-op America’s action encouraging Ford and GM to produce plug-ins soon.”

たしかに、プラグインハイブリッド自動車なら、高いガソリンを買わなくてもいいからユーザのランニングコストは低減できるし、走行中は化石燃料の消費を抑えられるから二酸化炭素を削減できる（エネルギー効率はガソリン車よりいいからトータルの石油消費量も抑えることができる）。石油依存度が低下するから、エネルギーセキュリティー的にも安心だ。でも、技術はまだまだだと思いますよ。
